WITHOUT A TRACE destroying the archive (solo show) @ the Joinery Dec. 2008

without a trace
destroying the archive
12 conversations an installed work...and a book
Without a Trace is an examination of the photographic archive
informed by a series of documented discussions with
drag performers (who appear in the photographs), archivists,
curators and academics.
These discussions culminated in an installed gallery
work presenting the research alongside the original
archival material, questioning what it might mean if the
images were to be destroyed.

An editioned book has been produced to document
and record the research findings. What happens to the images
will be decided through a contemplation of the responses
given by those who engaged in discussion. Updates on the project will be posted here soon.
